Disney To Open Hawaii Resort

Hyatt Place Coming to Waikiki This Fall

The Ocean Resort Hotel currently operated by Castle Resorts and Hotels is going to be completely renovated and re-branded as the Hyatt Place Waikiki this fall. All guest rooms, public spaces and lobby will undergo extensive renovations. The hotel will remain open during renovations.

The Hyatt Place brand is geared to business travelers and families. Its standard features include free wifi, continental breakfast, coffee and wine bar, a 24-hour “guest kitchen” to purchase made-to-order snacks and entrees, and a fitness center.

The Ohana Waikiki Beachcomber will be re-branded the Holiday Inn Waikiki Beachcomber. The transition is to occur in November. The hotel continues to be owned and managed by Outrigger Hotels. The hotel recently went through extensive renovations.

New Luau in Maui at the Marriott

The Wailea Beach Marriott Resort and Spa on Maui has introduced its new Te Au Moana Luau which started on August 11, 2010. The luau begins at 4:30pm on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday featuring flower lei greeting, Hawaiian crafts demonstrations, and buffet-style luau fare.

The luau is accompanied by a three act, one hour show featuring song and dance from Maui, Tahiti, the Cook Islands, Samoa and Tonga.

Cost is $99 for adults, $53 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for children 5 and under.

Green Alternative Offered by Car Rental Company in Kauai

The Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa is offering its guests an ecofriendly rental option inspired by a concept that is gaining popularity on the mainland.

Guests can rent hybrid SUVs either online or from a self-service kiosk in the Grand Hyatt's lobby for $15 an hour, including all fuel and insurance costs. Guests then head to the property's valet and pick up their vehicle at the reserved time, use it for the scheduled number of hours, and refuel it using a provided gas card before returning the car to the valet.

Traditional car renter only use their rental car 30% to 40% of their stay while the rest of the time the car sits in the hotel parking lot often subject to daily parking fees.

This new program currently offers Ford Escape hybrids equipped with iPads featuring interactive GPS island maps and virtual tour guides.
